HS teacher organizing parents & teachers to save & transform public schools, elected as a delegate to the NEA Assembly from county, but county can't afford to fund the trip.
When disastrous education policy passed in NC in 2013, I was outraged for the children I teach and scared for my own children's future. I connected with a developing group trying to save and transform public education in North Carolina and around the US. Being a part of this fight has given me the hope, energy, and morale to struggle for fair policies and funding in public education.
Parents, teachers, and communities must come together as our power to save education for our children lies in our numbers. In my efforts to organize these groups, I have realized I must be able to use what structures exist, so I have been actively involved in the North Carolina Association of Educators. My county has selected me to attend the national Representative Assembly, but cannot fund the trip.
YOU can make the difference. Please help me represent my colleagues at the RA and develop a nationwide network of activists fighting to save public education for YOUR children, MY children, and ALL children.
