We see you, ICU!
The Purple Piñata is passionate group of NYC-based medical and graduate students dedicated to supporting the well-being and uplifting the morale of our local healthcare community during the COVID-19 crisis. We do not have non-profit status! We just want to help.
As of 5/5, COVID-19 is responsible for nearly 170,000 cases of infection, 45,000 hospitalizations, and 15,000 deaths in New York City alone. Our healthcare workers are working around the clock, sacrificing health, home, and family, to keep this disaster from getting worse.
We wish to provide care packages to front-line healthcare workers in NYC. The hours are long, the conditions are brutal, and the physical & emotional toll is heavy. Hundreds of patients are dying on them daily, sometimes even co-workers. And yet, they continue. Amidst dwindling morale, perhaps in the brief quiet moments in between the frenzy of critical alerts, we wish to let them know how much we care about them and how many people are behind them.
Will you please consider supporting our relief efforts?
Donations will go to providing care packages for front-line healthcare workers in NYC hospitals, with an emphasis on Bellevue & the Manhattan VA.* These care packages include the following:
Each care package costs ~ $4.
*Should there no longer be a need for care packages, any funds left over from this campaign will be donated to local hospital services supporting the wellbeing of healthcare workers caring for COVID-19 patients.
We wish to thank the following supporters for their generous contributions to our front-line healthcare workers:
