I'm Greg. And I have celiac. It's an autoimmune disease – not a gluten allergy as it's so often referenced, and if left untreated, it can be life-threatening. I've spent four years diagnosed but over thirty undiagnosed, and I'm creating awareness with the unexpected:
An 11-part Culinary Cozy Mystery Book Series!
A Culinary Cozy Mystery is simply a fun story where an amateur sleuth solves a crime.
In this case, my heroine will have celiac. While solving crimes, she'll be actively managing her disease with a gluten-free diet.
If this sounds like a cutesy way to solve a serious issue, it is.
But – I believe in catching flies with honey, not vinegar, so supporting this project will not only help people with celiac disease but those who are undiagnosed. My goal is to make sure the books talk about the symptoms to encourage people experiencing them to get tested.
This project is self-published, so without the support of a publishing house, I'll need to hire the following:
By donating to this particular book project, you'll be a) supporting the cause of Celiac disease and b) helping a writer make their serial publishing dream a reality.
Already, my mystery book The Wife, reached over 900 people in 7 days, so I'm confident that funding for the project won't be a dead end. (Get the pun?)
Some people feel awkward about donating to a project by individuals. I get that. But to be transparent, both Celiac disease and other illnesses have really held me back in life, so I wouldn't come to this platform if I didn't need the help and resources. Getting this project off the ground will help me build a life that is more flexible and sustainable. People with Celiac struggle with traditional working set-ups: they require accommodation due to fatigue, and other problems like mental illness can pop up. Creating a side-hustle like this gives a little more cushion to have a backup in situations where a regular working situation is not possible.
If you can't contribute financially, I hope you'll share this or read the books when they come out!
