Notice of Legal Action against the Governor Mask Mandate
Algonquin, Illinois— 08/12/2021 — Today at the McHenry County Court House, See Them Smile Inc. (NFP) started its challenge of Governor Pritzker’s Mask Mandate, which required all pre-K-12 students and staff to wear masks during the school day from both Public and Private schools.
On August 4th, 2021, Governor Pritzker issued a mandatory mask mandate that effectively removed parental rights and the right of each individual school board to make decisions that are best for them. From this act, See Them Smile, Inc. NFP was formed. What began as a parent union based out of Huntley Community School District 158, became an incorporated company intended for grassroots community activism and fundraising. We partnered with over 50 other school districts in the state of Illinois to form a coalition of parents who are fighting for their parental rights to be able to make medical choices for their children. We obtained legal counsel and began our legal fight on August 12, 2021 in McHenry County to obtain a Temporary Restraining Order. This case was transferred to Sangamon County (Springfield) where we will continue to try to obtain a Temporary Restraining Order and have a court declare that Governor Pritzker has exceeded his emergency powers.
