At 9 weeks old, my mom noticed a cloudy glow in the pupil of my right eye. Three days later, I was diagnosed with a congenital cataract. Less than 24 hours later, I underwent cataract removal surgery at Primary Children's Hospital. In the weeks to follow, I saw many specialists and sat through having my eye pried open many more times than I'd like. They say I'll be a wearing high-powered contact for years to come until I'm old enough for an artificial lens. I also get to rock a patch over my stronger eye every day for the next 8+ years. My brain likely had difficulty "learning vision" in my right eye prior to my surgery. The patch helps us play catch up so that I have the best chance at seeing through my right eye when I grow up. They say I'll be lucky to see the big "E" at the top of the chart with the help of a contact, but we're determined to surpass these expectations. I'm no ordinary baby and I have the whole world to see! Contacts and patches are no fun, I assure you, but mom and dad are helping me to adjust and we're learning to embrace them.
I'm grateful for your kind and generous donation. My mom and dad are grateful for your support. Donations are assisting us in affording my surgery and recovery, including my years of continued medical care, tiny contacts, eye patches and the like. We are all dedicated to helping me see clearly, and you've made our journey easier. Thank you for being on my team!
Hope to "see" you soon,
