Seat Sacks for my Students

From Sam Pierce

I'm raising money to buy SeatSacks for my 1st graders who need a place to organize their notebooks. Our school is in an impoverished area in Ft. Worth, TX where funds are minimal.

I am a 2013 Teach for America Corps Member teaching 1st grade Dual Language (bilingual) in the city of Ft. Worth, Texas. I am entering my second year teaching 1st grade at Maude I. Logan Elementary School in the Stop Six neighborhood in Ft. Worth. The area in which we work is known for its high levels of poverty and minority populations. Every second in the classroom counts toward reaching our academic goals, and helping my students stay organized will help them stay focused in the classroom. That is why this year I want each student to have a Seat Sack for their chair, where they will have easy access to the many books and notebooks they will be using on a daily basis. No longer will my students be worried about keeping the insides of their desks clean or searching for loose papers, because everything will be neat and organized in the Seat Sack behind them... and this allows them to focus on the more important things, such as LEARNING!
