Scully Needs Dialysis

From Tegan Switzer-Vogt

They’ve hit a wall with IV fluids. We are bringing her home and giving her subcutaneous fluids twice a day until we can either afford dialysis or she can’t go on.

Scully had acute kidney failure in April and has been struggling with chronic kidney disease since then. We think she ate something she shouldn’t have. Previous to this incident, she still acted like a puppy. She’s was receiving IV fluids 24-7. I am really hoping we can figure out some way to help her. We will try dialysis at a vet specialist. The fluids are cost at least $1000. Either of these other procedures can cost from $1000 to $5000. $5K When first starting dialysis, then it costs about $400 for each treatment after that.

She is my soulmate I will never have human children and she has been my child since I adopted her 10 years ago when she was a puppy. I lost her sister last year. I love her and because she is alert and playful after eating fulls meals for at least two days straight, I’m not ready to give up. The meds aren’t doing enough for her. I really don’t know what I’d do without her.
