YADA End-of-Year Thanks and Recap
Dear Friends and Family of YADA,
First off, we want to thank you for your extremely generous and ongoing support in these challenging times!
Despite these recent struggles, we are very proud to announce that YADA will celebrate its 25th Anniversary in January! That’s right! For 25 years YADA has been inspiring children of all ages with the magic of theatre!
Since March of 2020, when the pandemic hit, YADA has been doing everything in its power to ensure that our amazing kids do not lose the creativity, expression and joy of theatre just when they need it the most! That has continued, wholeheartedly, into 2021…
During 2021 YADA has:
1. Kept our promise to relaunch all of the shows that had to close during the pandemic. We made sure that each child was given the opportunity to come back to the stage and relive the characters that they worked so hard to create.
2. Paid for four weekly for COVID testing days so that all of our staff and families can remain as safe as possibly during this time.
3. Offered In-Person Classes as well as online YADAVISION classes so that families have a choice that fits their personal needs.
4. Continued to keep staff, hire new staff and provide health insurance for as many full time and part time employees as possible.
5. Created new programs like YADA+ to help ensure kids and parents have abundant options for their children to remain engaged during this crucial time of their lives.
6. Hired and worked with Covid-19 specialists to make sure that we are doing everything we can to keep our staff and families safe.
7. Brought back full costumes and sets so that the kids can feel like real Broadway stars!
8. Continued to pay full overhead on all three studios - even though we are not at full capacity - in order to maintain optimal safety and ensure our kids enjoy the best facilities in Southern California!
To help fund these extra costs, YADA has had to apply for another EIDL disaster loan. Last year, YADA launched a fundraiser to help keep us going during the pandemic. Our goal was $200,000 and we are 20% there. Due to the ongoing issues with the pandemic, we humbly ask for your help now more than ever.
We got through 2020. We’re almost through 2021. WE WILL NOT GIVE UP!
Please help us finish 2021 strong, so that we can celebrate our 25th Anniversary and continue enabling our amazing staff to do what they do best: keeping our YADA superstar kids shining on the stage!
During 2021, the YADA Staff made a hysterical Annie parody to continue humor and joy in our lives, which we all need! Click here to enjoy!

To Our Incredible YADA Community,
YADA has been providing not just a stage, but a safe, encouraging space for kids to find and share their voices for the past 23 years. But now, due to Covid-19, we are in very real danger of having to permanently close our doors. We are humbly asking for your help to make sure we can continue providing that inspiring, inclusive and joyful home to children for many years to come.
Proud, confident smiles…Twinkling eyes…Beaming faces…Making kids feel like they are a special part of something magical has always been YADA’s mission. Staying true to that mission has meant providing amazing musical theatre experiences and high-quality productions for our students and families. The vast majority of what comes into YADA gets invested right back into our top-notch productions, talented staff and expansive offerings. We believe so deeply in the power of theatre that we provide over $120,000 in scholarships each year to hundreds of students who otherwise couldn’t afford to enjoy the YADA experience.
We have done our best to maintain the YADA magic in these difficult times by creating an online platform back in March, but it cannot replicate our in-person numbers nor our ticket sales.
At the same time, our overhead expenses have not changed. We continue to pay salaries and benefits for our staff, pay full rent on three shuttered locations, and continue to pay all of the other expenses associated with running a children's theatre school. Now, we also have added online expenses such as an editing and audio production team. YADA has also continued to provide scholarships to children in need during the pandemic since children need the healing magic of musical theatre now more than ever.
We've been doing everything in our power to stay afloat and YADA is incredibly proud of the work we’ve done; along with the innovations and adaptations we've implemented during this challenging time. However, we are not invincible. Without your help and generosity, we probably won't make it to the other side.
All that said, we remain full of love and hope! The vaccine is being circulated and we can see the light at the end of the tunnel. If we can just make it through these next few months, we’re certain YADA will come out of this better than ever! We just need your help to get there….
If you are able to help, all of us who have been connected to the YADA community over the years will be eternally grateful! Most importantly, YADA will be able to continue to offer the uplifting, inclusive magic of musical theatre to children everywhere for years to come!

Thank you ALL for your continued support of YADA. Because of you we made it through our Summer Camps - even though the Delta Variant did it’s best to shut us down again. Thank you thank you thank you for being a supporter of YADA!!! We still haven’t reached our fundraising goal, so share, click, give and help spread the word about YADA!

YADA Alumni & Kids Share Their Voices!
We always say that YADA is the place where kids find their voice. We could not be prouder or more honored that these incredible YADA kids & alumni used their voices to help #saveyada.
Please join us on Thursday, May 27th, at 5pm PT for a heartwarming online presentation featuring songs, stories, and flashback photos and videos from our talented YADA alumni, along with videos and original artwork by current YADA kids!
The show will ALWAYS go on at YADA, and we cannot thank all of our amazing participants enough for putting this together!

To our incredible YADA community,
We would like to begin by thanking you so much for your #saveyada support during this challenging time. Thanks to your generous donations, we have raised $32,227! Those donations have helped us get through a particularly difficult financial time and we are so grateful for that.
Unfortunately, because we still have the same operating expenses as we did before the pandemic and Covid-19 restrictions have prevented us from operating at our normal capacity, we are still struggling to make it through this time.
We want to be totally transparent with you about where we are and why we are struggling. In addition to operating at a much lower capacity, we have also not received any additional government funding to help us through this pandemic since April of 2020, right after the pandemic hit. Since we have not been performing for audiences in person, we have not had any ticket sales (which normally help to cover our production costs) for a full year -- all of our virtual performances have been free.
We are excited about a handful of exciting fundraisers that we are currently producing! We are very hopeful that those will help as well, but they take time to produce and our need is now.
Our original fundraising goal was $200,000, and that is still what we need in order to make it through this time. We are confident that we will get through this, but we need your help.

Hello YADA Family!
It's been a little more than a week since we launched the #SaveYADA Fundraiser and we wanted to thank each and every one of you who have generously donated and/or contributed in some way!
We're happy to announce that we've raised over $25,000 in our first week, which is awesome! This puts us at 12.5% of our $200,000 goal.
With the holiday break upon us, this will be our last update until the New Year, but stay tuned because we'll have some big 2021 fundraising announcements such as events, auctions, and prizes!!!!
We wish you all a joyful, healthy Holiday season and a very happy New Year…..We’re all ready for 2021 and the hope that it brings!

Wow! What an incredible first day! Thanks to your support we made the front page of Fundly!
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your generous support! We were literally crying tears of joy yesterday.
We have a long way to go to hit our goal but we are well on our way. We’re feeling very heartened by the support and awareness we were able to generate yesterday.
Please continue to support YADA by sharing the #SaveYADA fundraiser with your friends, family, and social media feeds. Personal testimonials are great too! Spreading the word far and wide will be key to making it to our fundraising goal!
