More Info

The elder organization of the Kappa Chapter of Zeta Psi at Tufts is asking for the support of alumni. If we don’t raise at least $20,000, we will lose the chapter house.

The Kappa Chapter was the first fraternity at Tufts. Our best memories of Tufts and closest friendships are the direct result of Zeta Psi, and we know the same is true for each of you. However, if you don’t act now, the next generation of Tufts students will not have the opportunity to be part of such a great organization because the Kappa Chapter will cease to exist.

The university has suspended the Kappa Chapter, cutting off the elder organization’s primary source of revenue (rent). The undergraduates are eligible to return in the fall of 2018. However, we estimate our cash reserves will run out by this summer.

Major ongoing costs include property taxes, utilities and repairs/maintenance. After covering ongoing costs, all donations will go to making durable improvements to the house (e.g. refinishing floors, updating bathroom fixtures and remodeling common spaces and individual rooms).

The elder organization is committed to ensuring that the Kappa Chapter remains a prominent member of the Tufts’ diverse community. Please donate now and donate generously. If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to reach out to Byron Crowe, the elder organization’s president, at byronacrowe@gmail.com.

We are not a 501(c)(3), and donations are not tax deductible.

UPDATE (3-16-18)So far, we've raised about $25,500 (including check donations) from 77 individual donors. We estimate that we have at least 800 active alumni out there. That means after one month we're averaging about $330/donation with just under a 10% participation rate from alumni.

We love the generosity of the individual donors we've seen so far. However, we think we can do better with participation, so we're raising the bar. By the end of the fundraiser, which ends next month, we want an 18.55% participation rate (see what we did there). That means we want to see a total of 148 guys step up.

Given out new goal for participation, we're also raising our dollar goal from $30,000 to $45,000. Why? We want the house to do more than just survive; we want it to thrive. And an extra $15,000 will give the elder organization some extra firepower to help beautify the house for fall recruitment.
