Update #6

He ya'll! Well we made it back to Austin safely without any more drama! Woo Hoo! In fact, we actually had a few more fun adventures on our way back driving through Marfa/Alpine and stopping at a little river swim spot before rolling back in to A-town. Thanks again so much for your support on this adventure! I know Miles and I will remember it's many highlights for a long time! It was such a beautiful experience as a father to be able to share these kinds of experiences with your son. I have very few experiences to pull from of my own childhood with my own father. But I am thankful for the few I do have. But as I intended my son to come into being, I also intend on being the best dad I can be. Which brings up all kinds of challenges along the way. All totally worth it even in the darkest hours.
Thanks again and big love to all of you!
Jon & Miles.

Update #5

Well we had a radiator hose blow out at the turn off to 66 from 40 in NM. We were about 8 minutes from the gas station there when the engine overheated. So I stopped and started us and coasted as much as possible to finally get us to the station and under the shade from the sun. Made a bunch of calls and found a local mechanic who happened to be finished with a job and on his way back by us to his home. He found out what was wrong, went to grab the part and about 4 hour later we were back on the road to Carlsbad. Heading to the caverns this morning and then off to Alpine for the night. We’ll take off early in the morning tomorrow and get back (If all goes well) to Austin in the afternoon. Thanks again for all your support. You guys have been great!

Update #4

Hey everyone! The beast has done well so far. We’ve stayed in a little RV about 20 minutes south of Durango. Yesterday we had a long day of train riding from Durango to Silverton, train museum and dinner. As usual, Miles made lots of friends with the train crew and had a great time. Check out my FB timeline for pics and videos. Today we’re off to ALBQ where I’ll be taking him up on the mountain via the Gondola ride. Thanks again all of you for helping us continue our journey. Special shout out to Keith Paolino for being so helpful and proactive about supporting us with this whole process! Sending big love to you all! Cheers!
Jon & Miles.

Update #3

Great news! OMG! We’re over 2K. Amazing! We’ve found a vehicle that we can afford with this amount. It’s probably the best thing I can find for the price on such short notice. Have a look. It’s older and will need some TLC but should do the job to finish the trip and get us home. You guys made this happen! Thanks so much for all of your help! Big love to you guys and more updates to come!

Might have someone willing to buy my mess of a civic tomorrow. Fingers crossed. Wont get much but be good to just get that off the mental books.

Update #1

Hey guys! Thank you so much for all of your generosity! I’m really inspired by all of you! I read a comment about this campaign earlier today that wrote it off as no big deal, they only donate to “serious” causes. I was not offended at all, because what I realized a few years ago is that giving is actually not about the situation of the other, but the situation of our own hearts. Are we abundant, or scarce with our hearts. I know that I have been very generous with those things which I feel abundant in and very scarce with those I dont. I continue to work on being abundant and giving in heart and spirit by remembering that this whole “life” thing is so much bigger than I am. But it’s very much a process and I feel like I fail more than I succeed. Your actions inspire me to be/do better because….

Wherever you are at in terms of literal economic abundance you have shown here that your hearts are very abundant. This whole insane situation has offered layers of new awarenesses for me. This bear, inconvenient as it has been, has offered some interesting lessons I am still processing and integrating.

As of now, I am in negotiations on another vehicle not too far from me that feels like it could be the one. I’ll keep you posted on all of this! Thanks again for all your support AND as I’m kinda a jack of all trades, if you need help with your: small business marketing, including copy, design, video & strategy let me know, If you’re struggling with some deep, hard stuff, let me know, I’ve gone through LOADS of it and am a powerful and empathetic listener. OR if you’ve ever thought you loved someone so much you wished you could write a special song for them, but alas, you’re not a songwriter, I would love to help you with that as well. I’ve got 2 albums out, had songs played on radio internationally and have written close to 500 songs…Just putting it out there.

Love yas! Jon & Miles!
