Bernie was rescued with his mom and littermates at only 3 days old. He was with us until he was adopted at 5 months old. He was returned to us last month because his owner developed ashma and because Bernie is such a lap cat, she couldn't keep him because he triggered her ashma because he is such a cuddler. He was to be adopted again 2 weeks ago but upon a vet exam, a heart murmur was discovered. Today's cardiologist visit revealed he has severe HCM hypertrophic cardiomyopathy with dynamic LVOTO (left ventricle overflow tract obstruction). This is not good. They put him on a beta blocker daily but he needs to be monitored closely. Bernie is only 1 1/2 years old. He definitely will not live a long life, the vet is hoping with medication he may live 1 or 2 years, but that's something. We need to pay for his medical care. Please donate to help Bernie. Right now he is fine, not in pain or discomfort so as long as he is like this we have to help him.
