We are raising money to preserve this 1930’s historic hall We are a nonprofit organization and love giving back to the community! Your donation will help us keep this gem up and running for generations to come!
In 2021, Thomas Duncan Hall will celebrate 100 years of being the community gathering space in Lafayette, Indiana, as envisioned by Thomas Duncan, when he generously donated the funds to build this now historic site.
Our mission is to preserve and maintain Duncan Hall so that it can provide a place for cultural, educational and celebratory events that enrich our community. It will also sponsor educational programs that enhance civility, character, and citizenship in Greater Lafayette, Indiana.
Since 1931, the hall has hosted events from plays, art shows and ballroom dances to countless weddings and receptions to community forums and even a speech by JFK in 1959.
As time marches on, our building suffers from the effects of aging except on a much grander scale. Past campaigns addressed Boilers that needed replaced, wiring updated, and leaks fixed. Now bricks are in need of tuck pointing, our slate roof is leaking, historic plaster rooms painted and repaired, windows fixed and preserved, a ballroom floor replaced...the list goes on.
Preserving our historic community buildings is a common plea....and as one such building our board of directors is in need of finding funds to help accomplish this.
We'd like to celebrate our 100th birthday looking as fine as the day she opened--won't you help us?
