What is an adapted toy?

An adapted toy is a toy that has been altered for use by individuals living with disabilities. Toys are rarely designed with the needs of those with different abilities in mind. By making simple modifications to the electronics of toys, they can be enjoyed by children and adults with limited fine motor skills and physical abilities.

The example in this photo shows a toy that can be activated by pressing the accessible switch (the big red button).

Santa's Little Hackers is a seasonal event that adapts toys like this for individuals living with disabilities.

We can not provide these toys without your donations.
