Safe Place for Siesa

Safe Place for Siesa

From Siesa Shuman

I recently moved to Montana to work in the nonprofit sector and unfortunately experienced my car being stolen and racially motivated harassment. I have found a new place to move into and am trying to work on that.

Hey yall this is an update on my situation. As some of yall may know I just moved to Montana and the experience was excellent up til last week. My keys where stolen from the inside of my apartment which resulted in my car being stolen. Luckily it was found recently and my insurance is covering the costs of that. But I have also been the target of racially motivated harassment. I had received a letter on my dashboard a couple of weeks saying "N****r go home", my bike tires where slashed, and on the day I discovered my car was missing a neighbor who lives across the street verbally accosted me on the sidewalk while standing with my supervisor. He said things to the effect of "get out of the white man's land" and threatened me. Due to these circumstances I no longer feel physically safe nor do I believe my possessions to be secure in that environment or apartment. Good news is I have been approved for a new apartment and thanks to the kindness of others I am almost in a position where it is financially feasible for me to leave. Any amount of help would bring me to closer to my goal of maintaining my autonomy while also being in a place that is safe for me. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have accepted an emergency loan from my job so I will not have to wait and potentially lose my place at this new location. My goal is to pay off that loan.
