My name is Joseph Zeppa, a United States Marine Corps veteran and a member for the 1st Battalion 4th Marines Reunion Committee. I am reaching out to you, on behalf of our committee, in hopes that I may provide you with an opportunity to support this veteran community and active duty members who serve with this outstanding unit. This year we are hosting the largest reunion we have ever had in hopes to reconnect with fellow brothers and honor our fallen warriors who sacrificed their lives during Operation Iraqi Freedom I-II.

Originally, Alpha Company Raiders have been the only (¼) company having reunions every year since ‘07. This year we’re bringing together every company from the battalion to make it extra special and share the positive impact these reunions have had on all of us for over a decade. As we have done before, we will make the steep and rigorous climb to the top of Camp Horno’s Memorial to remember and honor those no longer with us. To shed sweat and tears together like the days of younger years. To share our support with one another and remind each warrior that no one must battle life’s challenges alone. These reunions are forever life altering and help us all look forward to brighter futures.

These reunions are forever live altering. Years after ending my active duty I fell victim to depression and PTSD from my service. I attended my first memorial hike in 2014 during my lowest point. There, I was able to rely on my brothers for shoulders to cry on and ears to listen. The support and guidance I was given was astronomical, and I no longer felt helpless and alone. Since then, I have attended every reunion to date and have found myself amongst leaders, mentors, and the best men I have ever had the pleasure to know. With your support, this reunion will be a truly unforgettable experience to look back on as we strive to continue making them better every year. The help we need for this reunion may be things your organization has provided other veteran communities in the past.

The date for this reunion is September 27 through the 29, 2019. This event will consist of a hike, a family-oriented beach day, and a formal dinner (highlighting our past and present achievements). These men, (approximately 800) have given everything, then and now, to support this amazing country and those they love, and we want them to know that they are still highly valued. Thank you, in advance, for all your support and assistance with this amazing event. We look forward to hearing back from you and your organization in ways you can help. Semper Fidelis!

Sincerely,

CPL Joseph B. Zeppa
