We wish to design a lift to get beloved pets from one level to another. Pets, who are disabled, arthritic, or obese and cannot make their way up/down stairs without assistance. This device will be able to be activated by the human counterpart or by the animal themselves via adjustable weight plate activator. I fell in love with a paraplegic cat named Benedict and became saddened when I realized I could not adopt him because my place is small with 2 levels of stairs and his quality of life would drop. I thought, what about he people who already have pets and they become injured or simply elderly. Many people will give up their loved ones because they cannot afford a new place they can roam in. The device, ideally, would be a fairly flat plate that an animal can drag themselves onto (paraplegic) or walk onto without lifting a paw. Once the animal is on-board, the weight sensor will activate a silent count down (also adjustable), when the count-down is reached, the sides will lift, preventing the animal from falling off, and it will make its way up the stairs. Once it reaches the top step, it will remain until the pet returns for a trip down. For people who have multiple pets in need, I am hoping to design it will a button the animal can be trained to press to return the lift to the bottom. My hopes are, once Rabbit Product Designs gets a working prototype, I can start contacting the pet insurance companies to get the device approved for some sort of coverage for the device. My main goal is to get veterinarians and animal rescues to be a huge source of referrals and a source of advertisement. It will be a huge help if the insurance companies will get behind this.
