Ride For Wishes- Benefiting Make-A-Wish Missouri & Kansas

This year's Ride will be an honor of our two wish ambassadors:

Drake- Wish Kid Drake has wished to go to Gen Con.  He is Drake is a 12-year-old boy who was recently diagnosed with a brain tumor in August of 2018. Drake’s medical journey began when he was taken to his local emergency room after experiencing vomiting, severe headache and crossed eyes. A scan revealed a tumor in his head, which resulted in a helicopter transport to Children’s Hospital. After a biopsy was performed, it resulted in about 90% of tumor removal. With a few more complications and another surgery later, Drake is currently doing well and completed radiation therapy.

Drake loves a variety of games – board games, video games and card games – and enjoys watching YouTube videos of gamers. He is great at math, plays trombone in the middle school band and is in choir. He is the oldest of three siblings and has four pets.

Oliver- It was an ordinary October day when active and energetic Oliver woke up complaining of a hurt ankle and was struggling to walk. Two days later, he woke up unable to walk on his ankle and was taken to the emergency room. After the results from the x-ray came back clear, the doctor was concerned about other conditions, leading to further testing. It wasn’t until a couple of weeks later in November of 2018 that Oliver’s mother was delivered the words no parent wants to hear. Oliver was admitted to the hospital and received a bone marrow biopsy the next morning. He was officially diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia, had his port inserted and began treatment.

Despite how much Oliver’s life has changed, he has been strong and resilient. Oliver enjoys cub scouts, his baseball team, riding his bike, swimming and Cardinals games. According to mom, he is very honored to be part of Make-A-Wish and feels very special throughout his wish process.

When asked to comment on her son’s medical journey, Oliver’s mom said:

“These last few months have impacted us in ways I cannot describe. We have been blessed to have so much support from family, friends and so many others. This has been the emotional rollercoaster of a lifetime. Every morning, I try to wake up from this nightmare we call our new normal. Then, I look at Oliver’s sweet face and start the day.”

Thank you for partnering with Ride For Wishes and Make-A-Wish to help support Drake and Oliver's wishes and wish kids like them by granting them their one true wish.
