The Buddy Walk® was established in 1995 by the National Down Syndrome Society to celebrate Down Syndrome Awareness Month in October and to promote acceptance and inclusion of people with Down syndrome. Today, the Buddy Walk® program is supported nationally by NDSS and organized at the local level by parent support groups, schools and other organizations and individuals.

Monies raised at the Buddy Walk® fund RGDSNs large group gatherings like the annual Christmas party and our monthly events like the 5 & under play group, the Teen/Adult Night and the Mom & Dad Night Out events. As well, we are able to use those resources to provide scholarships for individuals with DS and a family member/caregiver to attend the National Down Syndrome Congress’ annual convention and to create welcome baskets for new families, a program we just started in the summer of 2014.
