Renewable Energy in New Zealand

Renewable Energy in New Zealand

From Joel Luckenbaugh

I'm currently fundraising for a flight and other costs for this class I am taking this semester at Penn State. We're going to study the renewable energy generation on the North island of New Zealand with a trip in March.

More Info

This is a trip that will give perspective into the production of energy especially renewable energy. What's particularly interesting about New Zealand, other than the beautiful landscapes, is that NZ produces 40% of their energy through renewable resources like hydroelectric dams, geothermal systems, and windmills. During this trip, we will be visiting a few of these plants and so we will travel most of the north island during a week's time. The funds raised will be used for the flight as well as food and other travel expenses (Housing is covered through a lab fee charged by Penn State). I know this isn't a desperate cause, but having this opportunity will mean a lot to me since I haven't been able to travel abroad throughout school and especially since this gives insight toward renewable energy which the United States has yet to incorporate to a higher degree. Also, I promise to get souvenirs to anyone that wishes to have a little piece of New Zealand. So thanks for your consideration everyone.
