Allison's Journey:

Our beloved Allison was diagnosed in the summer of 2015 with a very rare type of cancer called pseudomyxoma peritonei, also known as PMP. She had planned to start law school at the University of Virginia that fall, but a major, invasive surgery forced her to postpone her lifelong dream. While that initial surgery went smoothly, the surgeon found it too risky to remove all tumorous material, which was situated on Allison’s vital structures. Allison recovered from the procedure in a matter of months—much faster than anticipated by her doctors—and she was able to begin law school in the fall of 2016. Always an incredible and strong woman, Allison appeared to be living the life of a normal 26-year-old law student. In May 2017, the PMP returned. Allison was forced to postpone her second year of law school. November 2017 found her facing emergency surgery, similar to her first. This attempt to decrease her tumor load proved incredibly perilous. Countless complications plagued her after this surgery, which rendered her unable to eat, leaving her dependent on IV nutrition.

The end of 2018 and beginning have 2019 have been a rollercoaster. By February, it was clear that Allison’s health was in steady decline. On Sunday, Feb 24th, Allison passed away at home in bed surrounded by loved ones— knowing how immensely loved she was by everyone who knew her.

She is now our forever admired Angel.
