I'm raising money for a relocation back to Palm Springs, after my livelihood in NYC dried up. I know the amount is relatively high, but it would be used to cover transport, moving, and NYC rent while finding replacement
Thank you all for reading this. I know this seems like a ridiculous page, but I have been going through it (like everyone else) for the last 6 months. After getting laid off in May due to the pandemic, my bills have been piling up, the rent obviously needs to keep getting paid, and NYC rent is NOT cheap. Unemployment in NYS barely even covers the rent I am paying, so my debt keeps growing.
Unfortunately, after exhaustive searches in NYC for the last few months, I have been unable to get employment. I figure I should take this chance to move back to Palm Springs, and restart my life there, paying 1/3 the rent and try to get back on my feet.
I know the amount is high, but it will be used to pay for moving expenses, transportation, and a rent cover for the roommates I am leaving behind (as it is hard to fill spaces now and my portion is well over $1300 a month) until they can find a replacement.
I want you all to know how painful this is for me. I have never received unemployment before, I have always been proud and hated asking for help, but my situation is getting grim. I went from being financially stable to being almost $20k in debt.
