I was diagnosed with cancer when I was 3 years old. I was blessed with lots of love and now it’s my turn to give back! I’m raising money so I can buy toys for kids who are in the hospital.
On August 27, 2014, our 3 year old daughter, Reese, was diagnosed with stage 3 Wilms Tumor (kidney cancer). We were completely devastated and our world crashed down around us. We had just welcomed our second daughter, Avery, into the world just 6 weeks before. We should have been celebrating our new addition, not helping Reese fight for her life.
Throughout Reese’s journey to health, our entire family was blessed by family, friends, and complete strangers. We received donations, meals, toys, child care for Avery, and so much love. One of the most memorable gifts Reese received were presents from the hospital staff during each medical visit. At times, the simple gifts were the only thing to bring a smile to Reese’s face.
On Reese’s 6th birthday, she requested that her birthday guests bring a toy to donate to the hospital on her behalf. (Yup, Reese is just that amazing and thoughtful!) From that birthday on, Reese has decided to raise money each year and then go on a shopping spree to buy toys/activities for the sick kids who are in the hospital. She truly wants to give back and put smiles on the kids’ faces!
