Red Shift presents Joby Talbot's Path of Miracles

A Musical Pilgrimage Along the Camino de Santiago
With the premier professional choir of Baton Rouge

Red Shift presents Joby Talbot's Path of Miracles, the inaugural concert project of the 2017-2018 season. A multi-movement masterwork for 17-part advanced unaccompanied choir, Path of Miracles was composed in 2005 as a musical depiction of the mediaeval pilgrimage to Santiago de Compostela. Rarely performed because of its difficulty and extended length, the choir’s staged production will constitute the southeastern premiere of the work, presented twice on October 14 and 15.

Dedicated to resonant, innovative storytelling, Red Shift is a professional choir of exceptional artists that offers audiences new perspectives of sound and meaning in our shared world.

More Info

Dear Friend of Red Shift,

We are excited to share with you some of our latest news and to invite you to join us to be a part of our art - choral storytelling that provokes and inspires.

It has been an amazing summer, and we can’t wait for our 2017-2018 season ahead:

- We have incorporated and are a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.

- We were honored to be selected by the Louisiana American Choral Directors Association as a featured choir at the upcoming Fall Conference in New Orleans.

- We held national auditions and have hired new artists of the highest caliber.

- We will offer the regional premiere of a masterwork that will transport audiences to the mystical pilgrimage of Santiago de Compostela in Joby Talbot’s Path of Miracles.

- We will reprise a work from our very first concert performance, the full choral version of David Lang’s the little match girl passion upon its ten year anniversary.

- We look forward to sharing our season preview with you very soon, offering even more virtuosic choral story-scapes.

With your support, we can continue our artistic impact, not only locally, but on the national stage.  Great music is expensive, but creative and performing artists with the expertise and dedication of Red Shift’s singers more than justify support at the highest professional levels.  We are certain that you will consider us worth your investment.

You give us the means to imagine, to shift notions of all that a choir can offer its audience and community.  In addition to funding a significant number of world-class musicians and their travel, your gift also enables us to ambitiously craft unique concert projects, including works that feature choral theater with dynamic lighting designs and staging.

Please consider a gift at the highest level, ensuring that we can continue our mission:

dedicated to resonant, innovative storytelling, Red Shift is a professional choir of exceptional artists that offers audiences new perspectives of sound and meaning in our shared world.

With sincerest gratitude,

Trey Davis, Conductor, Red Shift
