Although the land had been in our family since the early 1900s, this story begins in the early 2000s. It began for my grandmother and grandfather when they purchased the last bit of my grandmother’s homestead ranch in 2001. They immediately packed up their entire lives in Colorado to live on the ranch permanently for their retirement; his tools, her sewing machine, family heirlooms and what house pets they had. Using their life savings they built a beautiful ranch style home, and planted a luscious garden and even raised their own small herd of cattle. Mornings on the ranch smelled of strong coffee in the mornings and good home cooking in the evenings. Time passed and all was well; the land was thriving with chickens and stray cats making their home in the barn. But their paradise came to an abrupt end on April 22, 2022 when raging forest fires tore through the Cebollita valley not far from Las Vegas, NM.Their home, barn, trailer, tool shed and all of their belongings except for what they could pack in their two cars was reduced to ash. Over 20 years of hardworking and their entire life savings was gone within a day.

Please help us rebuild and revive their dream of living out their old age, on their own slice of paradise . We will use the funds to rebuild their home, barn, tool shed and guest house along with buying furniture and  appliances.

More photos will be available once we are allowed access to the home site/homestead ranch
