Rebuild Casa Mario and Support our Service Trip!

From Phil Vasquez

Over the last two years, we raised over $4,000 and this year we are striving for more. Basic commodities such as food, medication, hygiene products, and clothing are difficult to find and quite expensive.

Latin America is a land that is vastly misunderstood. Our 2017, and 2018 summer trip to Latin America changed this perspective through our cultural, service, and educational exchange.

Hurricanes have decimated the region, and our friend and neighbor Mario was directly affected. As a disabled man living alone, he has few resources to support himself. This year on our service trip, we will be helping Mario rebuild his home.

We will return once again this summer with a new group of American students. We have received generous local business support from the Bosak Auto Group and Orthodontics Specialists. Below is a video link showcasing our successful trip the previous year and a copy of our current travel brochure.

Last year we raised over $2,000 and this year we are striving for more. Basic commodities such as food, medication, hygiene products, and clothing are difficult to find and quite expensive. We will be using the funds raised to purchase and bring these basic staples to our neighbors.

Our host mother Mildred León operates a private homestay.  As one of the few ways to operate a private business, Mildred uses the funds to help her family. Due to recent changes in travel regulations, her reservation bookings are down 70%. Our trip directly supports Mildred and her family.

Thank you Dr. Koufos at Orthodontics Specialists for becoming official sponsors of our trip! Your donation of dental care packages will assuredly help our Cuban neighbors!
