“Rebirth for the Philippines" a letter-writing campaign to bring hope to Typhoon Haiyan/Yolanda survivors. Project Rebirth: the strength of the human spirit coping with disaster.
“Rebirth for the Philippines”
Desperately-needed food, water, clothing and essential supplies are being rushed to Typhoon Haiyan/Yolanda survivors in the Philippines. But as weeks turn into months, perhaps what the hundreds of thousands grieving and/or left homeless will need most is hope and encouragement that things will get better with time -- messages of support from those who have successfully coped with disasters themselves.
“Rebirth for the Philippines” is an effort to make sure the Filipino people know they are not alone. We will collect from different areas in the US cards and letters sharing an experience of coping with disaster, and deliver them to Filipinos impacted by the typhoon. Letters can be mailed to Project Rebirth, a nonprofit founded after 9/11 to help individuals and communities prepare for and overcome the trauma caused by disasters.
