Established to honor the memory of a man of integrity, honor, who persevered through many challenges known and unknown with the commitment to continue his legacy of service, engagement, scholarship and leadership.
The W. Ray W. Douglas, Jr. Memorial Scholarship was established to honor the memory of a man of integrity, a man of honor, a man who persevered through many challenges known and unknown, a man of standard and service. W. Ray. W. Douglas, Jr. was born in November of 1979 and passed in May of 2021. He was committed to excellence and education and was an advocate of all. To honor his memory and to keep his legacy alive, The W. Ray W. Douglas Memorial Foundation was started by his wife and 2 children (now age 9 and 7).
One of the pillars of the foundation is scholarship. This year, we will award 5 scholarships ranging from $1500 to $750, each being renewable for the following semester. To be considered for the Scholarship applicants must be a resident of Washington, DC or Prince George's County, MD; Roanoke, VA, or Kingsport, TN. Well-rounded high school seniors who demonstrate a significant commitment of volunteer service to their community are encouraged to apply. Scholarship recipients are expected to use their resources wisely, and uphold a high standard of conduct.
On May 19, 2022, we will host the 1st Annual Ray Day of Remembrance and invite you to give to support the programming and scholarships of the W.Ray W. Douglas, Jr. Ray of Hope Memorial Foundation.
