"In January, 2022, I found a lump in my breast and immediately called to have it checked. A recent biopsy revealed I do in fact have breast cancer. We found out and spent most of that day in shock. We processed and relayed as much information to as many people as we could. We shared our fears as well as tears. But the business of worrying does no one any good so we move forward with plans.
Cancer is a word no one wants to hear but in this diagnosis we are looking at the best case scenario. My cancer is called Invasive Ductal Carcinoma. It makes up about 80% of BCs. I am Stage 1, Grade 2.
Our obvious question was about the prognosis. We are told it is very treatable and very survivable. In fact, since sharing our news I've heard from multiple people who have experience dealing with this same situation. This gives us all great comfort.
I have a good strong circle to see me through this. What I hope is that you will remember my family as we move through this journey, especially my husband, children and parents. While the cancer is in my body, it is in the minds and hearts of those who love me and they are feeling confused and helpless. If they need to talk, please listen. If they don't want to talk, please allow them space. We know how awkward this news is and don't share it expecting anyone to know what to say. What we do expect is that you simply share it. All you ladies....check yourselves. All you men, make sure your ladies are checking themselves. I found this on my own and can't imagine had I not been checking what we would be looking at.
I will keep you all up to date on my journey and thank you in advance for your good vibes and prayers."
