I'm raising money to donate to OneVoice, an organization in Los Angeles that helps provide low-income families with everything they need to enjoy a holiday meal.
As a kid, I grew up with a single mother, and very often, the holidays would be very hard for her. In fact, there were several years where Santa wasn't able to leave me anything under the tree, and we had to visit a food bank just to make it through.
Those experiences have always stuck with me, so during the early 2000s, I used to participate in a Santa's Letters program in Chicago where I would coordinate donations with everyone at my work so that we would not only purchase gifts for kids, but we'd also collect food for families in need, and I'd drive around delivering goodies to those families.
This year has been tough for us but there have been so many people who have been generous to us, and in turn, I want to give back to the Los Angeles community. That's why I'm working towards raising money for OneVoice, an organization that provides families with everything they need to enjoy a holiday meal this year. If you'd like to read more about their services, please visit: https://www.onevoice-la.org/holiday-dinner/. I will also be volunteering for their program in December so that I can meet with families as we hand out food & spread some holiday cheer.
