More Info

We will strive to remove the outdated stigma of opiate addicts and proactivley revamp the rehabilitation process to appropriately address the disease of Opiate/Heroin Addiction as one of the most severe forms of addiction. We will provide direct assistance and services to individuals, family members, or others at risk of experiencing an opioid related overdose including but not limited to providing opioid antagonists.

We believe that collectively we can make a difference. We Believe that the optimal answer to opiate/heroin addiction is prevention. We believe that heroin causes one of the most severe forms of addiction. We believe that we must make heroin a public conversation in order to make a difference. We believe that the stigma of a heroin addict and rehabilitation for them is outdated and needs to be changed. We believe that legislative changes need to be made regarding Opiate/Heroin addiction. We believe that addiction of all kinds is a disease.

Update #8

There are lots of activities to choose from in the Advocacy Quad for R.A.C.E. REVELRY. To begin with, you can get a ticket for being an advocate. Many of our local politicians or political hopefuls have donated time during their busy weekends to spend time listening to you – the voters – regarding your thoughts, concerns, ideas and suggestions on the opioid/heroin epidemic. You can get a ticket in this Quad just by talking to them. Role-Model for your children that you care about your community by working toward affecting change! Introduce your kids to those in positions of power in Cobb County and explain to them that these people are elected to do a job that serves our community.
You can sign a petition in this Quad. We will be signing a petition that requests that all court mandated Rehabilitation sites are GARR certified in order to protect our citizens from fraudulent facilities trying to make money. The Georgia Association of Recovery Residences requires a level of protection and quality of care that develops and maintains a standard system for recovery residences in our state. They evaluate services and conduct on-site visits regularly.
You can receive Naloxone training and receive a free Naloxone kit. (18 and older) The DDF believes that this item should be a part of every household first aid kit in America. Be prepared to act when someone you know and love experiences an opioid overdose. Be prepared to act in the event of any emergency involving prescription pain-killers or illicit opioid drugs.
Young children, teenagers and parents alike can paint a “tile” to be hung in The Zone – Cobb’s first Recovery Community Organization. Write a recovery message or paint a tile in honor of a loved one in the throes of addiction or whose life was lost too soon. These tiles will be hung in our new building as soon as we are open. This idea came from the Shepherd Center where you will find a wall of tiles with beautiful messages.
Play the “Candy Game”…Trust me when I tell you this game is way more challenging than you think!!! Come try your luck at distinguishing candy from over the counter as well as prescription medication! You will be very surprised at the similarities. Yet another GREAT reason to keep kids out of the medicine cabinets!!!
Sign up for our newsletter, our Kroger Community Card, AMAZON Smile, and/or our mailing list. We want you to stay updated on all that we do to promote RECOVERY in our community! Have your picture made in front of our “Step and Repeat” Banner to show you are a DDF Advocate for Recovery!
