Puppymill Dogs Intake

Puppymill Dogs Intake

From Sheree's Dog Rescue

We rescued 16 dogs from breeders and they are in urgent need of veterinary care. Most are anemic, with horrendous teeth. A few females have mammary tumors that will need to be removed.

Update #3

We almost lost GOLDIE this past week. Fortunately, she pulled through. Her white blood cell count was high (sign of infection) and her albumin was low (sign of anemia). She was very lethargic and didn't want to eat. She was on antibiotics and bloodwork was done. She is now eating but she is still too little and too weak to be spayed just yet and have her dental.

MAGGIE SUE had her dental and her spay. Her reproductive track was full of pus and the vet had to put a drain in her abdomen to avoid her developing peritonitis. She will go back tomorrow, Monday, to have her dressing changed and see if the drain can be taken out.

ROXIE and DANA came out good. So far, CROSBY the Poodle, MAGGIE SUE and GOLDIE had it pretty rough. We have estimated a vet invoice of approx. $435 each of the 16 dogs. So far, the ones that were vetted, except for Roxie and Dana are up to as much as $700 each and we did not do the dental and spay/neuter on them yet! The anemia, mammary tumors, infection are making things difficult for these babies.

Update #2

CROSBY the Standard Poodle is neutered and tested negative for heartworms. Unfortunately, the right eye socket has no eyeball and it is severely infected. He also has a nasty ear infection on both sides.
He is on medicine to get rid of the infection in the eye socket and then only, will it be sutured. The doctor cannot do it until the infection is completely gone. It might take about one month before we can do that.

Two of the little Yorkie females are not doing well. They are extremely thin and the teeth are so bad that it is affecting their general health. They are at the clinic to be examined and one has to be force fed.

Update #1

Thanks to all the donations coming in, we are starting the veterinary care for the 16 new intakes.

CROSBY, the Standard Poodle is going to the clinic tomorrow to be neutered, shots and have his right eye probably sutured, since there is no eyeball in the socket.

DANA will be spayed and have her dental cleaning, heartworm test, shots on Friday and so will ROXIE. They are in their second week of quarantine and all are doing well so far. A few are still on antibiotics as they have very bad teeth.

Please keep on sharing. We have been very conservative in our veterinary care estimate for each dog and we know it most probably will be more expensive than the amount we planned.
