Dear friends,

As some of you may already know, I've been volunteering here in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania since April 1st until the end of June. I've spent my time assisting nurses in the hospital, spending time with children at the orphanage, and teaching school children the importance of oral hygiene. Over the next few months, I will be involved in many more humanitarian efforts that involve improving the quality of life for the Tanzanians.

Visiting the orphanage had a profound effect on me. To see the conditions these children were living in and see that they didn't have much to play with was very disheartening. So many of you have asked me if there is a way you can help. Aside from my personal contribution to fund a playground for these children, there is a need to improve sanitation in their living conditions. Your contributions will fund a pen for the goats that live amongst them to keep their feces from contaminating the play areas. Retiling the outhouse, replacing the single toilet and installing new doors around the single shower that's shared between all 50 children to allow for privacy and to keep the goats from using it as shelter during the heavy rains. There is also a need for disposable medical supplies, canulas, catheters, gauze, bandages, etc in the hospital. Since I will be here for a few more months, I will be able to follow these projects to completion and make sure your contributions are being used appropriately. I will also document the efforts on my blog so you can personally follow the progress. You can find it at www.mylifewithoutlimits.com

I've set a goal of $3000. Any contribution you are able to make is welcome but not expected. I just wanted to offer you the opportunity to make one if you're interested. Thank you so much for your time, understanding, and support! It's very appreciated!

Hugs,

Sima
