We really developed a passion for helping community cats in 2020 when my neighbor asked us to feed a feral colony she cares for while she was out of town.  We fell in love with the cats in the colony and saw how much they would struggle to survive without their human caretaker.  We began feeding the colony regularly even after my neighbor came back due to the amount of skinny kittens who lived there.  The more time we spent with them, the more attached we got.  Then we got news that the business they lived behind was going to evict them from the shed they used as shelter.  We begged them to give us time to trap the cats, to get everyone fixed, and to see if any were friendly enough for adoption.  They refused and installed barricades to keep the cats out.  The colony spread out into the surrounding neighborhood and many of the cats went missing.  We continued feeding the remaining cats and attempted a few times to TNR the cats we were able to find.  Several of the females that evaded us got pregnant and had litters.  Catching all of the moms has been difficult, but we have been able to find and catch about 4 separate litters of kittens to foster and adopt out. With help from your donations, we are planning to use this nonprofit to continue and expand this work for the ethical treatment, safety, and control of this colony and others like it in the East Valley.
