On Sunday, January 5th, Maddi was skateboarding with two friends in San Clemente, CA. They encountered a steep hill which the fearless Maddi took at full speed. She whipped around the corner and when her friends followed minutes later, they found her lying unconcious in the street. We are still unsure whether a car was involved, or if she simply fell from the speed at which she was riding. Maddi was immediately rushed to the Mission Hospital in Mission Viejo, CA in a comatose state with a fractured skull and hemorrhaging in her brain. The doctors performed emergency brain surgery where they removed the back of her skull to relieve the pressure and stop the bleeding. She sustained damage to her temporal lobe, and upon further inspection, her frontal lobes as well. Currently she is in a drug-induced coma to allow the swelling to receed and so they can moniter her brain. She is on life-support and is unable to breathe or survive on her own at this moment. Doctors cannot assess what damage she might sustain until she is out of the coma. We were told that had she been anywhere else when the accident occured and had they not gotten her to the hospital exactly when they did, Maddi wouldn't have made it. We have expierenced a miracle that she is still with us right now, and we are praying and praying that we will be blessed with another miracle; that she will survive this whole ordeal.
Needless to say, this unfortunate tragedy has racked up quite the bill. The expenses are more than we can afford right now. Any donation at all would be helpful and would be immeasurably appreciated. If anything at all, we ask that you simply pray for Madison. Already the number of people extending their faith and their prayer for Maddi's recovery is astounding. Words cannot construe our graditude.
Madison is such a beautiful, lively girl, and she has so much more life left to live. We won't entertain the notion that she won't win this fight. She's the toughest cookie out there and we KNOW she can do this. We thank everyone for their prayers, their kindness, and their helping hands. Together we'll support and love Maddi to the end. All of us can't wait to see that beautiful smile again!
There is a reason for everything and God has a plan. But God isn't lucky enough to claim this strong little angel just yet. We love you Maddi.
