WHAT HAPPENED? Paula wasn't feeling well and went to bed early on Wednesday evening. Craig woke up at 4am and checked on her before heading to work, and she was sound asleep. After returning from work around 1pm, Craig was surprised to see Paula's car in the driveway as she was supposed to be at work at 1pm on Thursday. He figured she still wasn't feeling well and called in sick. Before leaving the house, he opened her bedroom door to check on her and could hear her snoring and nearly shut the door to leave but the small lump on the bed caught his eye that it wasn't big enough for a person to be in the bed so he walked all the way into the room and found her unresponsive on the floor and immediately called 911. The ambulance arrived shortly and took her to the ER at Covenant. I had just picked up my girls from school to head to the airport for our Girls' Trip to Miami on a Disney Cruise when my dad called in panic to tell me the news (I'm so thankful I wasn't on a plane or a ship!). When we arrived to the ER, we had about 15 minutes until we could go back. When we went back, they informed us it had been about 8 hours since the onset of the stroke so we had no other option but to surgically remove the large clot from her brain. In less than 15 minutes, she was in surgery for her thrombectomy, where they go up an artery in the groin to the artery in the brain to remove the clot. Following the procedure, she was placed in ICU where she has remained since Thursday. Thursday was a long DAY, the scans showed she has major damage in a large portion of the left side of her brain. Friday, was our first encouraging day as she showed signs of recognizing us and enjoyed some of her beloved Michael Jackson music. Friday evening a CT scan showed that she has a small brain bleed that we are praying will heal on it's own. Paula has a long road ahead, but we believe our Lord is the GREAT PHYSICIAN and works miracles so will you join us to PRAY FOR PAULA!
