I am raising money from current and former Mustangs to help me with a renovation project of the Ponderosa High School Athletic Training Room. I need all the help I can get. Thank you Chris Mathewson
We have one week left in the campaign. Spread the word -- PLEASE
Ten years ago the athletic training moved out of its 108 sq. ft. converted storage room into our current 627 sq. ft. athletic training room. At that time, the school provided the extra space if I was willing to raise funds for the construction and equipment. I did a small letter writing campaign, mainly reaching out to the families of current Mustangs and my personal acquaintances, and successfully raised enough money to pay for the removal of a brick wall, buy a nice desk system, build new training tables myself, and paint the entire room.
In that space we have provided a high level of care to innumerable Mustang athletes. Every school year, Tyler, and myself care for athletes in 23 varsity sports. Over the course of a year, we will provide more than 5,000 treatments to hundreds of student athletes. Approximately 100 of those athletes will require rehab from significant injuries, and more than 500 athletes will require treatment for “non-time loss” injuries.
Our facility at Ponderosa has served us well, but time has taken its toll. Some of the equipment that we use to treat your students hasn’t been upgraded in my entire 24 years here. There are also a few structural items like removing a second entrance, removing a disgusting mop sink, and creating a “wet area” that I would like to fix to maximize the efficiency of the space we have.
I have great support from my administration; but budgets are stretched very tight. As you can imagine, there is a long list of infrastructure projects that need to be completed at a 35-year-old school. Every year I set aside about 10% of my budget for upgrades to the athletic training room.
This year I’m attempting another letter writing campaign to see if we can raise funds to expedite necessary repairs and upgrades. This time I’m also including alumni families in my campaign to see if some of them might want to “pay it forward” for future Mustang athletes.
I have developed a video detailing my planned renovations and improvements to the athletic training room, which have been approved by the administration. You can find it on this donation page at the top in the pictures section.
If you are able, I would greatly appreciate it if you could make a tax deductible donation to this cause. The link to the donation page is listed below. Or, if you would prefer to send a check instead, you can make it out to “Ponderosa High School, AT Room Renovation” and send it to the address below.
Thank you in advance for your contribution. I am personally very appreciative, but the most important thing is the benefit it will provide to current and future Mustang athletes.
