Wrongful Convictions Stealing Lives One Person At A Time!

Hello, I am sharing this fund raiser page on the behalf of my friend Daniel Lopez. Thank you for taking the time to read his fundraiser page. I'm just trying to help him raise money for his legal fees in order for him to receive his freedom.

Daniel is currently incarcerated because his constitutional rights were violated and nobody cared. First of all they tried him in his absence and gave him 25 years for a first time offense in South Carolina. It's considered a mandatory sentence for drug charges in South Carolina. So he has to do day for day with no parole.

*His sentence doesn't make any sense when they got people in there for murder and rape. Yet they only have to do 65% of their time, it's considered a more violent crime and they get parole too. So I don't think that's fair! I really believe that what they are doing to him & everyone else in there is unfair, cruel, unusual punishment and unconstitutional. Especially for a first time offense! We are living in a time where people are being imprisoned for profit. *Even Democratic Ex Attorney General Eric Holder, Republican Senator Rand Paul of Kentucky and Democratic Senator Patrick Leahy of Vermont are all against mandatory minimum drug sentences. They all believe that mandatory minimum drug sentences are costly, unfair and do not make our country any safer. Just a waste of the tax payers money! They are fighting to cut mandatory minimum for drug sentences.

Second of all he got pulled over for a speeding violation, the officer gave him a warning and said he was free to go. But said he was going to keep his car to search it. So he violated his fourth amendment right and did an illegal search & seizure. Violating his constitutional rights again. Also his arresting officer never turned in the video when he had pulled him over for speeding. He claims the video some how got lost!

I'm trying to raise money for him to help hire a Laywer to fight for a Post conviction release for him, because I also believe his appointed lawyer violated his constitutional rights and didn't do everything in his power to help him. I believe his lawyer should have had went on record when the Judge read his sentence. Also should of asked for an appeal and when it got denied he should of filed a a motion for a reconsideration for his sentence on record. However he failed to do that!  He never filed any motions at all and I think if he would have he probably could have won his case.

I'm trying to raise money for his defense to pay for all his legal fees & costs. So he can hire a Lawyer to fight for a Post conviction release. He has 2 children who he miss very much! One who is struggling to pay for college and make ends meet on their own. While he is not out here to help them. The other one is very young currently only 10 yrs old who cries daily for him. Because they are to young to understand his situation. His parents are in their 70's yrs of age, both live out of state, who he may never ever see alive again.

So now you see why I am asking you for your help PLEASE. Because this injustice is unfair and not right. Getting the proper legal help to try to win his appeal is the only chance he has.  So he can see his children finish growing up and see his  parents again. Before they grow to old and pass while he is incarcerated.  However legal cost is extreamly costly and him and his family was already struggling to make ends meet before he became incarcerated. Plus once he became incarcerated he lost all of his possessions completely and he doesn't really have anyone to help hI'm othere than me. So if you could please find it in your heart please to help him.  He would be beyond grateful. Once again I appreciate you all taking the time to read Daniel's fundraiser page.
