More Info

Hope Farm is being developed on a 3-5 acre site at The Hope Collective campus at 23513 W Miller Road in Lake Zurich, IL just footsteps away from the Reach Food Pantry. The primary goal of the farm is to bring healthy food to the pantry guests, to provide educational opportunities on health and nutrition and to teach students of all ages how to grow their own food.

Many of you know that growing food brings me joy, so I am beyond delighted to be a part of this project. Since 2014, Kevin Westing and I have been growing healthy people in Lake County. Through our relationships with organizations and schools we have created unique growing spaces using sustainable methods and state-of-the-art alternative indoor farming equipment to bring fresh food to the community and teach students in our living laboratories.

In the next few weeks, and we hope before the snow flies, a 30'x72' production high tunnel greenhouse https://www.rimolgreenhouses.com/greenhouse-series/production-high-tunnel will be constructed on the Hope Farm site thanks to a grant from the Northern Illinois Food Bank. This high tunnel can provide food year round which will be a welcome addition to the pantry's offerings for guests.

And this is just the beginning! Plans for raised beds and row crops, as well as aqua- and hydroponics systems, and even an orchard are not far behind.

Your tax-deductible donation will help bring food (and hope) to tables in our community. Hope Farm is a collaborative on-going project of The Hope Collective and Growing Healthy People.
