Peter Cox is cycling from Cairo to Cape Town in support of children born with cleft lip and palate. Every dollar he raises will provide comprehensive cleft care for children and families.
Peter Cox has assisted hundreds of families across Ontario as an Intensive Care Physician at SickKids Hospital, directing one of the leading Intensive Care Units (ICU’s) in the world.
Peter's lifelong commitment to advancing children's health, as well as his love for cycling, have led him to mark the end of this chapter of his career in a unique way: cycling across Africa in support of children born with a cleft lip and palate.
Why cleft lip and palate? It is a devastating and very visible condition impacting the lives of many children in the world. The fix is easy, the cost is relatively low compared to ICU and the impact is huge – smiling children who are able to eat, drink and speak normally.
From January - May 2019, Peter will be biking from Cairo to Cape Town - covering nearly 12,000 km across 11 countries.
His motivation? Fulfilling a dream and, at the same time, raising life-changing funds for children born with cleft lip and palate and their families in Africa.
Every dollar raised will go directly towards Transforming Faces (TF), a registered Canadian non-profit that delivers comprehensive care to children born with cleft lip and palate.
Beyond inspiring Peter, your support will provide essential services to families around the world, including: newborn nutrition, cleft lip and palate repair, speech therapy, dental care, counselling and social support.
A private foundation, who believes in Peter and this cause, will match all donations, dollar for dollar, up to $125,000.
Donations of $25 CAD or more are eligible for a charitable tax receipt. Gifts will support TF's programs in Uganda and Ethiopia.
*If we exceed our fundraising goal, funds will be allocated to the programmatic area with the greatest need worldwide.
