Update #13

Dear Friends ,
I wont to tell you , that my heart is rejoicing and praising the Lord for that He answered the prayers for Pavel's immune system to start to work.... On the 27th day, on Monday , his counts moved from 0 to 0.1 and every day its improving . I want to tell you , that this is a true MIRRACLE , when everything possible was done by the doctor's and expected time passed, the test results showed that Pavel's bone marrow is empty, and doctors planned to have a meeting on Monday, in regards to the next steps and planning possible second transplant , then God did what impossible for people , but POSSIBLE for HIM. On Monday morning we saw new numbers on the dash board more than a "0" , the numbers we were waiting for 5 weeks..., the sign that immune system started to work. Every day and every moment I am thinking about our Lord, how merciful and faithful is He to his children , and we are the blessed and happiest children of our Heavenly Father among with many, many other , like you , who prayed and believed, who encouraged us and supported us , related thru precious Blood of Jesus Christ in a big and great family of God. Pavel is doing good, thankful to Lord, and now doctors are planning to discharge him soon from the hospital to leave near hospital for another 2 months. This is our next step ....please continue to pray for Pavel's health. Thank you so much and we love you all.

More Info

On March 9th of 2014, Pavel, my husband, was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. The diagnosis came after months of pain and emergency room visits for Pavel. Most theories as to what was causing the health issues were much less serious than what we would be hearing soon. The weekend of March 8th, Pavel and I were in the hospital again and more tests were being done. The sudden diagnosis of cancer was dropped on us on Sunday, the 9th. It was confirmed with further tests the following couple of days. Needless to say, this has all made a life changing impact on Pavel, me and our four children, Karina, Anton, Mark and Anna.

Immediately following confirmation of the diagnosis, Pavel was transferred from Presbyterian Hospital in Matthews, NC to the Cancer Hospital in Chapel Hill, NC where he began intensive chemo therapy. Since that time, Pavel has received 4 week long rounds of chemo. He would come home between each one to recover some before the next one. In those times at home, there were instances where Pavel had to be admitted to a local hospital due to infection because his immune system was too weak to protect him from germs or infections.

Now we are at Pavel's final stage of his treatment, his bone marrow transplant. To reach this point, we needed a donor. It was by God's miraculous doing that Pavel's sister from eastern Ukraine, Lyudmila, was tested, confirmed a donor, issued a visa and flown to Charlotte, NC all surpassing the obstacles posed by the crisis in Ukraine at the time. She is now here living with us awaiting her time to donate.

Pavel was admitted back to Chapel Hill Cancer Hospital on Monday, August 4th, 2014. He has received total body radiation twice a day from that time until that Friday. Today, Saturday, he is being treated with a chemo therapy more aggressive and tough than any of his previous ones, with the purpose of preparing his body for his transplant that will occur on Tuesday, August 12th.

Pavel will be in the hospital while his immune system recovers and then be discharged with a 24 hour caregiver. That caregiver will be me. We will be living in Chapel Hill in the vicinity of the hospital until about November, during which Pavel will have very frequent visits to the hospital as he is monitored during the process.

It is for this reason that we are asking for monetary help. We are humbly asking for support for our four children living at home, and our new living arrangements in Chapel Hill. I will be leaving my job to stay with Pavel, and there are many expenses that will not be covered by insurance. Housing, transportation and food during our time living in Chapel Hill are some not covered.

May the Lord bless and repay each person that prays and gives in our support.

Waiting for signs of recovery.....

Our dear Friends,
there is no hard time when you are waiting....specially, when almost all the expected time is gong away and there is no yet a sign for Pavel's immune system to start the recover. It is kind of hard and I do not want to sound discouraging, but I know that YOU are, our Friends ,will understand me and not to condemn.... Today is the 23rd day after transplant, doctors were expected to see Pavel's blood counts will start to recover from day 14 through 20....yes, everybody is different and Pavels immune system does take extra time to recover after all preparation regime , the radiation and aggressive chemo. He is doing much better now , he started to eat little by little, his pain started to be more manageable . Every morning when you open your eyes, you do hoping to see on your dash board numbers, different than 0....Have to say that here the doctor is still on optimistic side and he is a good doctor, nurses and staff so supportive and our Great Doctor Jesus Christ is giving us hope every day through our Friends and relatives, through a sun that is shy in our window and a sky , through the stars that we see through our window in the hospital. Just want to let you know that I am very much appreciated your supportive thoughts and prayers and your generous funds to support our family needs at this time. Please continue to pray for Pavels recovery. Thank you.

HEALING- What if Your healing comes through tears? What if Your blessings comes through raindrops?

We pray for blessings, we pray for peace
Comfort for family, protection while we sleep
We pray for healing, for prosperity
We pray for Your mighty hand to ease our suffering

All the while You hear each spoken need
Yet love us way too much to give us lesser things

'Cause what if Your blessings come through raindrops
What if Your healing comes through tears?
What if a thousand sleepless nights
Are what it takes to know You're near?

What if trials of this life
Are Your mercies in disguise?

We pray for wisdom, Your voice to hear
We cry in anger when we cannot feel You near
We doubt Your goodness, we doubt Your love
As if every promise from Your Word is not enough

And all the while You hear each desperate plea
And long that we'd have faith to believe

'Cause what if Your blessings come through raindrops
What if Your healing comes through tears?
And what if a thousand sleepless nights
Are what it takes to know You're near?

And what if trials of this life
Are Your mercies in disguise?

When friends betray us, when darkness seems to win
We know that pain reminds this heart
That this is not, this is not our home
It's not our home

'Cause what if Your blessings come through raindrops
What if Your healing comes through tears?
And what if a thousand sleepless nights
Are what it takes to know You're near?

What if my greatest disappointments
Or the aching of this life
Is the revealing of a greater thirst
This world can't satisfy?

And what if trials of this life
The rain, the storms, the hardest nights
Are Your mercies in disguise?

Road to Recovery

On August 14th Pavel completed a marathon! The STAFF in the hospital encourages their patience to walk during their long stay in the hospital. Pavel , like other patients was given a special pedometer that counts laps when person is walking inside the Bone Marrow Transplant Unit. To complete the marathon Pavel walked 504 laps, which is equals 26 ml. It took him about 9 days to complete it and he is looking forward to continue to walk and keep himself physically active as possible. I am so proud of you, Pavel! You have been always such a great example for me and our children of strong Faith and Faithfulness to our Lord and our family. We love you very much! May God bless your road to recovery and may Jesus name will be glorified in every moment of our life .

Transplant Day =Happy Birthday !!!

By the grace of God , Pavel did received those precious stem cells, that his sister Lyudmila donated yesterday. The BONE MARROW /STEM CELL TRANSPLANT is finished and the nurse officially congratulated him with a new Birthday! The process in 3 hours went very well and Pavel is resting and overall he is doing great! Thank you, Lord!!!! Now it is just a beginning of the long recovery... But I do believe that my husband and the father of our 4 precious children will come to the end of the recovery successfully. God be with us.
