Paul’s Run has always been known for its vibrancy, where residents live life to the fullest. With COVID-19, daily life at Paul’s Run has drastically changed. We’ve had to temporarily discontinue a lot of the things that make us who we are because social distancing is so important to stopping the spread of this virus.
Our residents are resilient and understand that these days are just temporary. They appreciate the extraordinary measures that staff are taking for the safety and protection of this community. Using masks, gloves, and other PPE; providing deep cleaning services; and going to the pharmacy and store for residents are just some of the ways staff are keeping everyone safe.
Each day, the cost of these measures continues to grow. Now more than ever Paul’s Run needs your support get us through these unprecedented times.
One measure we’ve had to take that has been especially tough for our residents has been the temporary closing of our dining rooms. These are the places where residents would come every day to have meals and conversation around a table with their fellow residents, friends and occasionally family members who visit.
While we’ve developed ways to keep residents connected while apart, we are also delivering three meals a day to independent living residents’ apartments. This includes breakfast, lunch and dinner. We’re doing this because we want make sure that our residents don’t have to go to the store. Delivering these meals has been no easy task.
To give you a glimpse, staff prepare 210 lunches each morning. They fulfill special orders for those with dietary restrictions, allergies and other health-related needs. Our auditorium is currently being used by staff to assemble meals for food delivery, filling brown paper bags with the proper orders.
Meal deliveries take place three times every day. These deliveries provide more than food and nourishment, they are unique opportunities for social connection between residents and staff. Our team wears Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including masks and gloves, and sanitizes each resident’s doorbell and handle after delivering each meal.
