I am April Maxwell-Henley and I am excited to be running for the Willingboro Board of Education School Board.  As a parent of a child who attends the Memorial Middle School and who is Special Needs, education is certainly a priority for me. I have lived in Willingboro since 2007 and I have volunteered in many capacities within the district and locally.

Through my volunteer work as the PTA President of Memorial Middle School and my contributions in the classroom as a substitute teacher within the district, I have become passionate about the quality of education our children receive.  I have been a part of the district for 12 years and PTA President within the district for 4 of those years at Garfield East Elementary School and Memorial Middle School. Taking a progressively more substantive role as a school board member is my Passion 2 Action.  I have attended the Board of Education meetings for several years now and have participated in the Public Comment time as well. I believe my participation has prepared me to make a meaningful contribution as a member of the Board.

Being an effective Board member requires collaboration, partnership, an open mind, and creative thinking to ensure our resources are invested in our classrooms and that our tax dollars are used effectively and efficiently.  One of the most important skill sets I possess is my ability to listen, consider all information presented and develop an action plan. I have developed the skills to work with people on both sides of an issue just a year or so ago that was not the case.

As a PTA president, I have learned precisely how important communication is between our parents, teachers, and administrators and I look forward to bridging that gap.
