Cities all over the U.S. are witnessing the positive impact and benefits that mural art has in their communities. Visit WilCo wants to bring those benefits to our communities throughout Wilson County by beginning the “Paint WilCo” art initiative to complete 10 murals by the end of 2020! This is where we need help - our vision for this project can only be realized with help from our neighbors, friends and community partners.

The goals of the Paint WilCo are to complete 10 unique murals around Wilson County over the next 12 – 18 months, sourcing local artists for painting the murals with the purpose of beautifying existing buildings and public spaces, boosting tourism, recognizing local artists, and sparking interest in public arts within the community. Interactive murals, murals involving students from area schools, murals for pets, as well as culturally centered murals are amongst the themes we would like to accomplish. The Wilson County Convention & Visitors Bureau (Visit WilCo) will manage/oversee the project. They are collaborating with a valuable team of local professionals, forming a Murals Committee, for the planning and execution. The value of this project is nearly immeasurable. The impact of public art murals crosses, city, county, state, socioeconomic and cultural lines. Murals provide art accessibility to otherwise under-served populations, beautify communities and ignite passion for the arts in the young and old. Not only do murals enhance communities through beautification and education, they impact area tourism by attracting visitors. Painting interactive murals around Wilson County will invite locals and visitors to be one with art.
