Update #6

Dear Paintings for Produce Supporters,

Last night, like many of you, I watched the 2020 United States Presidential Debate. As we get closer to the election, it is important to remember who we are—and who we want to become—as individuals, as Americans, and as global citizens.

I believe in the power of democracy. I believe in free speech. I believe in science—I believe scientists. I believe that diversity makes us stronger. I believe that the 200,000 Americans who died of Covid-19 deserved a President who cared about their lives. I believe in politicians who have dedicated their lives to serving the American public and advancing freedom and equity for all. I believe in compassion, empathy, and respect for my fellow Americans. This is not about red or blue—this is about you and me and everyone you know—everyone you don’t know. This is about our collective future.

I am so grateful for all of your support for Paintings for Produce over these last few months. If we want to continue helping the families whose health and livelihoods are impacted most by COVID-19, there is one thing we can all do: vote in the 2020 United States Presidential Election.

Sincerely,

Paris

More Info

Hello! My name is Paris Myers, and I am a third year double major in fine art and bioenigneering  at Oregon State Honors College. If you would like to learn more, check out my website www.parismyers.com and learn more about me and my work! I have been painting formally for 11 years, grown up in the Pacific Northwest, and for my 19th birthday (March 28th, 2020) I am starting this campaign to do my part during this trying time.

The COVID-19 pandemic has taken the world by storm leaving families everywhere worried for their health. Not everyone has the financial or physical access to get the locally sourced food needed at this time.

For those who are able to donate, I would like to create a custom painting inspired by the Pacific Northwest (Landscapes, Desert, Seaside, etc.) in return for your donation to this campaign. If you have a photo of a special place in the Pacific Northwest you would like a painting of please include that information. If you do not need a painting right now, consider donating a painting to your local hospital, personal doctor, or others in your community who have helped you now or in the past! After you donate (within 1-4 days) you will receive an email with details on creating your custom artwork!

As of April 27th, 2020, I have brought on another artist, Cameron Knopf, to the campaign! He has been studying ceramics for 8 years, focusing mainly on eastern Asian style forms and techniques. He practiced under a well renowned northwest ceramicist, Ron Linn, for 4 years before working for a studio at Oregon State between my chemical engineering studies. Cameron is from Portland, Oregon. His work can be viewed on his instagram: @sagerceramics (website coming soon!) All ceramic pieces will be fired in July or August (once Oregon State's art studios re-open).

All campaign donations will be sent to participating local farms in Oregon so they can supply fresh, healthy food to families at no or reduced cost.

All paintings and ceramics will be shipped* once it is safe to do so. Until then, a high resolution photograph will be sent via email!

*Additional shipping costs determined on an individual basis.

Update #5

Hello Everyone,

I hope you all are safe and healthy.
I am delighted to announce that 20 paintings have been finished!
For those who live in Corvallis, OR and the surrounding area, I have already started delivering artworks. For those who live out of state, I will be mailing out your artworks as soon as I can!

If you are hoping to have your painting ASAP for a birthday or other special event, or have general questions, please email me at paintingsforproduce@gmail.com!

This summer was extremely eventful. In addition to exceeding the fundraising goal and working on your paintings, I ended up taking 25 academic credits this summer at Oregon State. Additionally, my high school sweetheart, Carson Gray, and I got married on September 4th, 2020. We had a very small ceremony in Corvallis, and shared it live on YouTube.

Thank you all from the bottom of my heart for your generosity towards Paintings for Produce. Thank you for joining me to support your greater community. It brings me so much joy to work on your paintings.

Wishing you a year full of health and hope,

Paris

Update #3

Hello everyone!

In just under two weeks we have raised $3,140! Yesterday, April 10th, three more families were given their Gathering Together organic produce baskets. In these past two weeks, six families (equating to 26 individuals) were given fresh, local produce. Because of your generosity, Paintings for Produce will be able to keep funding produce baskets for many weeks.

I have completed six paintings so far, and it is an absolute joy to work on these artworks for you, the donors. The painting attached to this email is "Yellow Rose", 9x12 inches, oil on Arnhem paper.

To see regular updates, including finished artworks, follow @paintingsforproduce on Instagram or check out my portfolio at www.parismyers.com

If you have reference photos for your artworks or any questions please email me at paintingsforproduce@gmail.com

Thank you and stay healthy!

Warm Regards,
Paris

Update #1

I am so excited that Paintings for Produce has already reached $380 in donations. Because of donations, eight families in need will be given free, organic, large produce baskets from Gathering Together Farms in Philomath, Oregon this coming Friday, April 3rd!

Every $50 equates to one large, all-organic produce basket!
Please spread the word so we can feed our community using creativity.

The more money raised, the more families we can provide food to over a longer period of time.

If you or someone you know would like to be a recipient of a basket, please email paintingsforproduce@gmail.com
It is a first come first served policy!
