The kids of Sibug Village need your help. To be more specific, they need a school. And that’s why we’re asking if you can join the campaign to help them raise $6,932.
Outreach International is a US-based humanitarian organization dedicated to breaking the cycle of extreme poverty. We partner with communities like Sibug to create sustainable, long-lasting solutions to their most urgent needs, like clean water, health clinics, food security, livelihoods and universal education. We currently operate field programs in the Philippines, India, Sri Lanka, Malawi, Zambia, DR Congo, Haiti, Bolivia, Nicaragua and the US. Learn more at outreach-international.org
The village of Sibug needs a preschool. In the Philippines, pre-elementary education is a prerequisite to enrolling in elementary school. So, in this poor mountain village - where men and women make less than $5 a day doing seasonal farm work - preschool is a child's first step out of poverty.
Before Outreach International began working with Sibug, the village had no school, and most families couldn't afford to send their children to the school in Rio Chico. With Outreach International's help, Sibug established a self-sustaining accredited elementary school for grades 1-6. With a new national requirement for preschool education, a temporary venue was located for the 5 and 6 year old children, but time is running out and Sibug Elementary School is ready to build a preschool wing.
Yes! Sibug doesn't want a handout. Despite their desperate circumstances, villagers have committed nearly $1,500 for the preschool, including the lot, school desks and supplies, and administrative and labor costs. They just need our help with bricks and mortar.
Your donation will go directly for construction materials and labor. Here are some suggested gift amounts:
100% of your donation to Outreach International will go directly to the project. No salaries, no water bills. Your gift is going to build that preschool and provide a first step out of poverty.
Sibug is located near Rio Chico in the Philippine province of Nueva Ecija (GPS: 15,361, 12,068). Please follow this campaign - we'll keep you updated with photos and progress reports.
Salamat! (That's Thank You in Tagalog, the official language in Sibug village)
