About 3 days ago we noticed something wasn't right with our dog Chuck. Our normally spunky, energetic, and playful dog all of a sudden couldn't keep anything down, he was lethargic, and he couldn't poop. We took him into the vet today to be examined and the x-rays showed the diagnosis. It was a fish hook and line stuck in his intestinal tract, the doc said it would be an expensive surgery so we began calling around to other vets, no one would help us. Finally the vet we had been working with recognized our efforts and offered to do it for $2500. They gave him a shot of antibiotics and nausea medication to ease his discomfort and sent him home with us with instructions to give unflavored pedialyte as often as possible to keep him hydrated and he cannot eat. They will be performing surgery on Chuck on Monday Oct. 1st to attempt to remove the hook and line from the inside of his intestines. We are thinking he picked up a baited fishing hook at a the river or the lake, we were shocked to hear what it was when the diagnosis came. The support we receive will 100% go towards Chuck's surgery to remove the hook and fishing line from his intestine, as well as help to cover any other medications he may need. Without this surgery he could die, it is a very time sensitive operation, the fishing hook and line are bunching up his intestinal tract and making it so he cannot defecate and he will not eat. We cannot afford to pay for the entire $2500 in time to save his life and that is why we turned to "Gofundme" the vet does not take payments but he said if we could get some funds together to put as a down payment he would be willing to work with us. It is so hard to see your family dog or any animal for that matter suffer the way he is at this time, right now he is comfortable. Chuck has been in our family for 10 years, despite his age he is in great health, happy go lucky and lively as a pup (when he is feeling his normal healthy self), he is a MASTER fetcher, hiker, swimmer, and an all around great dog, he has been everywhere and beyond with us and we want to do whatever we can to give him a chance. He is part of our family and I cant imagine this world without him, he is our protector and I know he still has many years to go and that is why we are doing everything possible to save his life. There are no words to describe how grateful we are for your support to help our sweet Chuckie boy, it means more to us than I could ever express in writing. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your support.
