IDEA wants the actors and organizations that influence schools and teachers to be accountable to young people and communities.
IDEA is mobilizing action to advance meaningful learning and build a more just and sustainable democracy. We do this by supporting and showcasing the work of young people, educators, and organizers around the country who are committed to reclaiming the "public" in education, in ways that develop compassionate citizens and changemakers.
One year ago, hundreds of people helped IDEA to raise $150,000 to continue helping people mobilize education around the country. This year we are back with another challenge - as our work begins to snowball, we need your donation to increase its momentum, focused specifically on the heart of our work: community organizing.
IDEA is working with 74 educators and community organizers on 15 teams all focused on transforming education. Through our community organizing model, each team contributes to IDEA's overall goal to reclaim and reinvent education by focusing on different and specific areas of education. Your giving supports those organizers and IDEA's approach to strengthen existing efforts around the country. We hope you'll find lots on our website to be excited about. Right now we hope you'll be excited about giving your hard earned dollars.
The Snowball Challenge goal is to raise $100,000 by January 31st of 2013. The Bay and Paul Foundations of New York City have offered us this matching challenge - any individual donations we raise by January 31st for community organizing, will be matched, dollar-for-dollar, up to $100,000. We are very grateful for the support of The Bay and Paul Foundations, and hope you are excited about this unique opportunity to give to IDEA.
Want to support IDEA during our Snowball Challenge but you aren't quite ready? Feel more comfortable spreading your giving out over time?
You can help move the needle to $100,000 here by pledging to give or setting up recurring donations on IDEA's site.
Whether you pledge to give or set up recurring donations, be sure to specify if you are giving to a certain organizing team so that their needle moves closer towards their fundraising goal!
