Organic Gardening for Charity Foods

Organic Gardening for Charity Foods

From Deborah Michael

I live in a very rural area in NC. Our joint religious community runs a store in the summers for those in our community who need a little help. We donate our extra honey and produce so folks can access fresh food.

Great day - confirmation that the bees survived the winter. They're swarming in the sunshine!!!

More Info

This funding will allow for constructing raised beds and expanding the choice of organic vegetables that can be made available.  Additionally, we will be adding 5 new beehives for fresh honey.  Fruit will be made into jellies and preserves.

Charity food drives bring in lots of commercially prepared canned items. This market provides those in need with fresh ingredients to prepare their own nutritious meals.

ITrying to use my grandfather's "signs" for planting this year. That means planting by the Farmers' Almanac for best results. You are supposed to plant your potatoes on the "dark of the moon in February" - that is tomorrow. The high is predicted to be 17 with a low of 2 - not gonna meet that goal this year!!.
