Took opie to a follow up appt with the Neurologist/Vet and they are still loving his progress and want to hold off on any surgery for now!
We have "opie proofed" our house these last two weeks... getting ramps/stairs for any furniture so Opie does not jump as well as gates to keep him from running up and down our stairs. We want to keep him from re-injuring his back if possible :)
Thanks everyone again for the well wishes/donations, we really appreciate it!
Thursday morning we woke up to Opie crying and in pain, we quickly rushed him to a vet and were given anti-inflammatory medications as well as pain medications for a possible soft tissue damage in his spine. We were told to let him get some rest and things would get better, by Saturday morning he was losing function of his legs, bowels and was in heartbreaking pain, we rushed him to an animal hospital where we were told the bad news.....
That our baby Opie is currently paralyzed by IVDD and his surgery is going to be an overwhelming cost of $7,000, any and all donations to help support Opies road to recovery are greatly appreciated. Thank you all so much in advanced, and even if donating isn't feasible...sharing does wonders.

Hey everyone!
I just got home with Opie from meeting with the Neurologist at Heart of Texas vet, they ran a CBC, a Neurological diagnostic test and a full exam of his gait and mobility.
They have advised us to consider to postpone Opie's surgery for now since he has gained a little bit of mobility in his hind legs in the past 24 hours. He is still not able to walk, and still has zero function of his bladder. He is incontinent and struggles to bark and move without severe pain without medications........ but he is attempting to control his hips, which is progress :)
We will continue to meet with the Neurologist/Vet to track his progress and see how everything is going. We may find that if he does not make anymore progress that we will still need to do the surgery, so that option is not off the table right now.
We are also managing his pain with 3 different pain killers, and keeping him stationary so he does not further injure himself.
I just wanted to thank everyone for their donations so far as they will go towards the vet bill we have accrued on Saturday (11/9/19) and Monday (11/11/19) and the upcoming visits and/or surgery, MRI, and other neurological testing we will need to perform.
I will continue to update everyone on whats going on with our little man, but that's all I have for now!
