Cause We Care, MI has partnered with Lakeshore Lifeworks and MYOI-Michigan Youth Opportunity Initiative to help the foster kids in their programs by putting together High School graduation gift baskets.
Graduation is a huge milestone in these kids' lives as they do not have parents in their corner rooting for them or helping them with homework. These kids have "aged out" of the foster care system without adoptive parents and now must face adulthood on their own.
More than 23,000 children will age out of the US foster care system every year.
About 1 in 4 kids who age out of the foster care system will not graduate high school.
There is less than a 3% chance for children who have aged out of foster care to earn a college degree at any point in their life.
They made it this far on their own under circumstances that most of us couldn't even understand. We want to show these kids that they are cared about and we are rooting for them by offering a graduation gift basket.
These kids are fighting hard not to become a statistic and to have a better future. We hope you'll lend your support in creating gift baskets for these kids as they venture into the next phase of life.
We appreciate you sharing our campaign and helping us achieve our goal.
